Our Story – Walnut Creek Glass

Walnut Creek Glass was founded in 1990 when Wyman Wengerd set up shop in the family garage to cut glass for the local furniture industry. In a few years as the local support increased and the business grew, Wyman quit his job at Schrock’s Woodcraft. In order to increase production, he purchased an Edger to polish the edges of glass shelving and mirrors.

In 1993 Wyman’s son Bryan finished school and Wyman thought he needed to provide something for him to do, so he bought the first manual Beveling machine. At the same time he decided to remodel the old chicken house so they would have more room. The Week after Bryan graduated the 8th grade, the technician was there to train him to operate the Beveler.

Through some growing pains, great friendships, and loyal customers the decision was made in 1999 to build a larger facility. A used Straight Line Beveling machine was bought over the phone at an auction in Texas for a fraction of the cost of a new one, which is what spurred the new construction project. Thinking they can rebuild the machine and start automated beveling for cheaper they soon discovered that the quality was not there and they would need to invest in something better.

So in the spring 2002 they moved to the new facility of 7,000 sq ft. And with great rejoicing a new chapter of Glass Fabrication was birthed at Walnut Creek Glass. Today, Walnut Creek Glass is at home in the 18,000 sq. ft. facility and utilizes state-of-the-art equipment to bring countless glass-related possibilities to the local and national furniture markets, the construction industry, and residential needs.

In 2004, it was time for Wyman to step down and pass the business on to his son Bryan. In June 2004, the promissory note was signed and the legal process began for Bryan to purchase Walnut Creek Glass.

Today, the business operates and grows on a debt free philosophy. Their mission is to build community and to bless and encourage people. Their desire is to lead and grow their great team of employees, that they would discover their full potential and from their heart serve their customers with the best products and services available on the market today.

Bryan says the foundational principle that affects all they do is found in Deuteronomy 6:5 and Matthew 22:39 of the inspired Word – To Love the LORD (YHWH) your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all you might, and to Love your neighbor as yourself. That the Kingdom of heaven may push forward, be victorious and fill the earth under the King of Kings!
